Roblox game icon size and tips

Last updated October 23, 2026

Short answer: a square image of at least 512×512 pixels. Roblox shows it as small as 150×150 in some places, so it has to read at that size too. Below: the specs, where it shrinks and what makes an icon work. Source: the Roblox Creator Hub.

1. Size

  • Template: 512×512 pixels, square. Non-square or blurry images look bad everywhere.
  • Smallest display: 150×150 pixels in some places on the site and app. Shrink your icon to that size before you upload it.
  • One per language: you can show one icon per locale.
  • Moderation: every icon is reviewed before other players see it.

2. Make it read at a glance

  • One subject, big. A character's face, a pet, a weapon: something players recognize from the game, filling most of the square.
  • Match the game. Roblox warns that ambiguous graphics confuse players. The icon should show what players get when they join.
  • Mind the top right. Roblox advises against an ambiguous graphic in the top-right corner.
  • No tiny text. At 150×150, words turn into noise. A short logo word at most.

3. Color and contrast

Roblox suggests color that fits the theme: bright, saturated colors for fantasy and dreamy games, muted colors for somber ones, heavy contrast for horror. A clear outline and a plain background keep the subject readable on both light and dark themes.

4. Icon and thumbnails as one set

Players meet your icon in some places and your thumbnails in others. Use the same character, colors and style in both so they recognize the game wherever they see it. The thumbnail rules are in Roblox thumbnail size and rules.

5. Make yours with Bloxshot

Bloxshot makes Roblox thumbnails (1920×1080) and icons (512×512) from your game link, a full set at once so you can test them. It opens soon: see how it works or get one email at launch.
